In the end, the consultant has to be the best fit for your business and be able to assist you to improve in their area of expertise.
Once you have potentially found the right person or company, engage them for a trial basis, maybe for a month, to get a feel for how you work together. This will also confirm their capacity and capability in working on your business. Ensure they complete tasks on time, engage well with your staff (interview your staff for their opinion), and charge you the right amount for the work completed. If the month works well, then extend it to another three months. You should have the right at any time to cease the agreement. Don’t sign up for any big contracts unless there are some clear options for you to stop the work.
